FAQ

Frequently asked questions about moving and transport to Southern Europe
How far in advance should I schedule my move?

We recommend getting in touch at least 4 weeks in advance so we can properly schedule your move around our weekly routes.

Can I also have just part of my belongings moved?

Yes, partial transport is possible. Whether you’re taking all your belongings or just a selection of items, we’re happy to help figure out the best solution.

Are you guys also moving back from Southern Europe to the Netherlands?

Yes, we handle moves in both directions.

Can my car, caravan, or boat come along in the same trip?

No, we transport vehicles and boats separately, using trailers specifically designed for that. However, we can plan the transport so that your car, caravan, or boat arrives at the destination at the same time as your belongings. That way, you have everything right at hand in your new home.

Do I need to re-register my car if I move abroad?

Once you register as a resident in Spain, Portugal, Italy, or France, you are required to get your car registered with local plates within a certain period. This period varies by country. Registering the car is the customer’s responsibility; we’re happy to help you plan your transport so it fits well with your registration in the new country.

Do I have to arrange customs papers myself?

Within the EU (Spain, Portugal, Italy, France), there are generally no customs formalities for a private move.

What do I need to arrange myself for my emigration?

Think about your registration with the municipality, a possible NIE application, and updating your insurance. We’d be happy to give you a practical checklist.

How much does a move to Southern Europe cost?

That depends on the volume, the destination, and the type of transport. Request a no-obligation quote for a tailored price estimate.

How quickly can I expect a quote?

Within 2 working days, you will receive a custom quote from us.

How long does a move to the Canary Islands or Balearic Islands take?

Keep in mind a turnaround time of about a week. The exact duration depends on the shipping company and the number of stops the ship makes. When planning your move, we will let you know in advance about the expected arrival time, so you know what to expect.

Is my household contents insured during transport by ship?

Yes, your move is insured throughout the entire process, including during sea transport. If our truck carries your belongings on the ferry, the transportation is covered under international CMR liability. Keep in mind, though, that this standard coverage is legally limited and calculated based on weight, not the actual value of your belongings. Especially for an overseas move, we therefore recommend getting additional insurance for your belongings, tailored to their value. We’d be happy to advise you on this.

To which islands do you provide transport and moving services?

We handle moves and transport to Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Saba, and Sint Eustatius. Want to know if your specific destination is possible? Feel free to contact us.

How will my things be transported to the Netherlands Antilles?

Your goods are picked up in the Netherlands and shipped by sea container via the port of Spijkernisse to the port at your destination. From there, we make sure everything is delivered right to your doorstep.

How long does a move or transport to the Dutch Antilles take?

The Netherlands Antilles are outside the EU, do I have to arrange customs papers myself?

No, we take care of the complete customs handling, both on the Dutch and the Antillean side. You don’t need to worry about this.

Can my car or motorcycle also go in the sea container?

Yes, in many cases vehicles can be shipped along. Get in touch to find out the options and dimensions.

Is my household contents insured during the sea voyage?

Yes, your goods are insured throughout the entire journey, including the ship crossing.
